Origins of Elegance
The Russian Blue is believed to have originated in the port city of Arkhangelsk, Russia, where they were prized by Russian czars for their beauty and hunting prowess. These cats were known as "Archangel Blues" and were said to bring good fortune to their owners.
In the 1860s, sailors brought these magnificent cats to England and Northern Europe, where they quickly gained popularity among cat enthusiasts. The breed was first shown at London's Crystal Palace in 1875, captivating audiences with their distinctive silver-blue coat and emerald green eyes.
A Breed Refined Through Time
During World War II, the Russian Blue breed nearly became extinct. Dedicated breeders in England and Scandinavia worked tirelessly to preserve the breed by carefully crossing the remaining Russian Blues with Siamese cats that carried the blue gene. This careful breeding program helped restore the breed while maintaining its distinctive characteristics.
Today, the Russian Blue is recognized by all major cat registries and is cherished worldwide for its gentle temperament, stunning appearance, and loyal companionship. Here in Florida, we're proud to continue this legacy by raising healthy, well-socialized Russian Blue kittens that embody all the qualities that have made this breed beloved for centuries.
